My colleague Gerry has written a blog about tax avoidance v's tax evasion.

We at Critchleys are very pleased that we did not succumb to selling aggressive tax schemes, despite being targeted by the companies who put them in place (and yes, it is usually a third party scheme rather than one cooked up by a clever accountant/ tax adviser).
George Michael, four members of Arctic Monkeys, Sir Michael Caine and a loan shark convicted of rape are among more than 1,600 people who tried to shelter £1.2 billion through one of Britain’s most aggressive tax avoidance schemes. Investors in the Liberty tax strategy, who include top businessmen, criminals, celebrities, QCs, NHS doctors, party donors and a judge can be exposed after a secret database of members was leaked to The Times
